A Herpetological Wedding Party

Illustrations for the different tables at Gareth and Zoe's wedding in Oregon -- representing the local reptiles and amphibians.

Coastal Giant Salamander (the larval stage especially loves champagne)

Western Painted Turtle (wise, but a monster on the dance floor)

Western Fence Lizard (always sophisticated, if a little bit of a lush)

Common Garter Snake (with decidedly uncommon fashion sense, thank you very much)

Northwestern Salamander (knows how to boogie all night long)

Pacific Tree Frog (a flapper and a hopper, and how!)

Rough-Skinned Newt (you want to know about life?  oh, he can tell you about life)

Western Toad (to eat the cake, or not to eat the cake. . .  the eternal question)

Foothill Yellow-Legged Frog (she's just so chuffed to see everyone here so happy)

Mythical Herpetology

I've been working on illustrations for a book on to depictions of reptiles and amphibians in world mythology, urban legends, and folktales.  Having lots of fun trying different styles for the different themes and subjects.

Australia's Rainbow Snake

A medieval Domenican monk, enjoying a healthy toad. . .

Ouroboros

A Shoshone myth explains the rainbow.

Spadefoot Toads come out in the rain.

A Toadstone

Voodoo Medley

An Albino Alligator of the New York sewer system.

The farmer's wife, who was a snake.

Ogres, descended from frogs, and ancestors of the Wa.

Where unicorns come from!
